Reaching new heights

Amelia's hit a new stage. It took her a while because she can be a fraidy cat, but she's all into climbing now. Onto tall stools, on her crib (ack- I was so planning on keeping her crib-bound til 3), and everything else climbable. Or not, as the case may be.

I credit Dora with my Punkin's newfound sense of adventure. And I bought bandaids, ointment, and an Elmo ice pack to handle. . . the inevitable.

Just the beginning. . .

Summer Splash

Summer is whizzing by. Don't know if you've noticed but it's the middle of AUGUST already.
Summer school was brutal as always and busier than expected as always and I hereby swear to never teach 9 units in summer again . . . as always. I could hardly contain myself when it finally ended and I could have endless days with my favorite girl. Finals on Thursday. Grades posted Saturday morning. Amelia sick by Saturday effing NIGHT. Can you believe that shit? It gets better because I was sick by Sunday night and there you have it. Our only FREE week to do anything/nothing at/away from home and we were both sick. Daddy was working 12-hour shifts and Amelia and I spent our long days chasing snot, sharing orange juice, and watching Dora until I thought my head would explode. It was nice to snuggle on the couch endlessly--for the first day. Not so much by the 4th and 5th days. Ugh.

The good news is that we're on the mend now and getting ready to head to Clear Lake for a week of relaxing, peaceful family time. In the meantime, I've been trying to get my photo act together. I have a million pictures and there they sit on my hard drive! Am I the only to whom this happens? How is it technological progress when we at least used to get actual pictures printed and now they disappear into some mess of digital disaster? What if I told you that we don't have a wedding album? Or a baby album????

In my defense, I do have this here blog. That counts for something, no?

Anyway, going through the pictures, I found this video. It's from our vacation to San Clemente in May. An amazing week! The video captures perfectly Amelia's beach experience. She loves to run into the water and then runs away when it gets close. My favorite part is how she tries to dodge her daddy, who's playing Sweeper between her and the ocean.

Who am I kidding? My favorite part is watching that little booty running towards the waves. I've never seen a single thing cuter.
